MASTERCLASS - JEREMY NG
Topic: Functional Strength Through Unpredictable Resistance for Active Ageing Populations
As individuals age, exercise programming must address more than strength alone. Maintaining balance, coordination, mobility, stability, and the ability to react effectively to unexpected movement challenges are essential for preserving independence and quality of life.
This session explores the application of dynamic resistance training using aqua bags, where shifting loads create a constantly changing stimulus that requires the body to stabilise, adapt, and respond in real time.
Unlike traditional fixed-weight training, this approach challenges multiple physical capacities simultaneously, making it highly relevant to everyday activities such as lifting, carrying, walking, climbing stairs, and recovering from loss of balance.
Participants will gain practical insights into how dynamic resistance training can be incorporated into programmes for active ageing populations to enhance functional strength, movement confidence, and overall physical resilience.
